Our owner, Melanie Niemerg was honored to guest on a technology panel at KBIS in Orlando this month.  Melanie spoke about the hot trend of smart technology for kitchens and baths.  That’s right, smart home technology has grown beyond the theater room and the smart doorbell and it’s more important than ever to make sure you’re working with a savvy integrator during the design process.

Smart kitchens might include features like a vent hood that is connected to the cooktop for optimized performance, a voice-activated shopping list on your refrigerator, and automated window shades for the perfect lighting.

Consider the luxury of a smart steam shower and voice-activated faucets for your bathroom.  If you want to turn on your steam shower from your bed it is as simple as saying “Josh, turn on my steam”.

All these new products can be daunting for homeowners and designers.  That is why it is vitally important to work with a knowledgeable integrator with the experience and know-how to make sure you are getting the right smart home technology for your family.

Design is all about texture and color so adding ambiance, comfort, and convenience through technology in these key rooms of the home is desired.  Where do kitchen and bath professionals and designers go to stay ahead of technology trends?  Certainly, blogs, trade associations, and conferences are a good resource, but finding a local integrator and building a relationship with them is definitely recommended.
